Blogger Recipe Contest for One-Pot Meals That Serve Double Duty, Celebrating Fall Flavors

13-MAP-TOG-logo-300x157NEW YORK, NY (October 01, 2013) The Federation of Quebec Maple Syrup Producers is calling all food bloggers and maple enthusiasts to enter its first-ever recipe contest in the U.S., starting today and culminating on October 31, 2013. The “Think Outside the Griddle” contest challenges foodies to create an original one-pot meal with pure maple syrup, including an idea for bringing life back to the leftovers for a second meal.

Reviewed by the Federation and a panel of top food editors, the winning recipe will be worth a grand prize of $2,000, with two runner-up prizes of $500 each.

The contest celebrates the usage and cooking versatility of pure maple syrup from Canada beyond just pancakes and waffles. Giving both sweet and savory dishes a unique depth and complex flavor, this all-natural sweetener has over 54 different antioxidants and is 100 percent unprocessed, vegan and gluten-free.

Bloggers will be asked to create an entree using only one cooking container (slow cooker, crockpot, Dutch oven, casserole dish, skillet, pot, etc.) and suggest the best way to repurpose leftovers for a second meal. Think a mustard pot roast for Sunday supper that serves double-duty as maple Baracoa tacos during a weeknight. Please visit to enter the contest and view all rules and regulations.

Here are the entry criteria in a nutshell:

  • GET COOKIN’ Create an original one-pot recipe using pure maple syrup as the only sweetener (submit a full recipe). Then give us an idea for repurposing the leftovers for a round two meal (a serving idea like “Maple Fish Tacos” is sufficient, no full recipe needed).
  • POST YOUR RECIPE Post your recipe and our Think Outside the Griddle contest logo on your blog any time between October 1 and October 31, 2013. (Blog content managers must be 18 years or older and living in the U.S. to enter). Don’t forget to include a high resolution picture! If you do not have a food blog, you may post your recipe to an online recipe sharing site. Your blog post must link back to our website
  • SUBMIT YOUR RECIPE E-mail or enter here with a link to your blog post and at least one high resolution image of the final dish any time between October 1 and October 31, 2013. We need your name, the name of your blog, email address, city, and state and phone number.
  • WHO HAS THE FINAL SAY? A team of three culinary professionals will judge your recipe based on      taste, originality, importance of maple syrup in the dish and ease of preparation. After a week of testing in our test kitchen, five recipes will be selected and prepared for a panel of judges to determine the grand prize winner and two runner-ups.
